BTR-82V ARMORED PERSONNEL CARRIER
The BTR-82V armored personnel carrier was developed in accordance with the technical specifications of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. It is designed to transport personnel with the protection of the combat crew and equipment located inside the machine from fire from the main types of small arms, fragments of mines and shells, the effects of the explosive wave of explosive devices and mines, to move over rough terrain and to overcome water areas in the surface.
The protection of the BTR-82V is improved through the use of additional anti-fragmentation protection, an energy-absorbing bottom structure and anti-mine rugs.
The armored personnel carrier is armed with a 14.5 mm KPVT machine gun and a coaxial 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun, mounted in a rotating turret.
BTR-82V APC mobility indicators are improved thanks to the installation of a more powerful (300 hp) diesel engine, new transmission elements and enhanced suspension.
The use of modern digital communications equipment, a topographic navigation system and a new combined commander observation device on the BTR-82V made it possible to increase the command controllability of the vehicle.
In general, the combat efficiency coefficient of the BTR-82V armored personnel carrier is significantly increased compared to the serial BTR-80.
In January 2017, by an order of the Government of the Russian Federation, the BTR-82V armored personnel carrier was adopted by the Russian National Guard troops.
