According to the press office of the Central Military District, about 20 brand-new BTR-82A APCs from the Military Industrial Company (VPK) have been received by the Central Military District training centre in the town of Yelansky in the Kamyshlovsky District of the Sverdlovsk Region.
According to the military district’s spokesman, Colonel Yaroslav Roshchupkin, the armoured vehicles will be used for training APC drivers and gunners and for converting troops to advanced materiel
mass-delivered to the Central Military District under the governmental defence acquisition programme.

In addition, the Central Military District’s press office reported that over 50 brand- new BTR-80As had been received a newly formed armoured division under the governmental defence acquisition programme.
The BTR-82a differs from the rest of the BTR-80/80A family in having a two-axis gun stabiliser for its 30-mm 2A72 automatic gun and 7.62-mm PKTM coaxial machinegun. This enables the armoured combat vehicle to fire on the move accurately. The firepower of the BTR-82A has more than doubled over that of the BTR-80A.
The vehicle is equipped with a higher-power 300-hp diesel engine, an improved transmission and a running gear.
